Self-happiness: Gathering From Inside

"It is not easy to find happiness in ourselves, and it is  impossible to find it elsewhere.  ~Agnes Repplier
Through the ages, it became a notion that the ultimate goal in life of every creature is to attain happiness. It became the reason of good and evil. People reach for their dreams, do charity works, work, teach, and (insert what you do here) for them to be happy. On the other hand, people also manifests undesirable traits to others in order to fulfill their own desires. This is why everytime you watch on television, you already expect some scenes where the antagonist laughs at the protagonist while having a battle against each other.  It became a human nature to long for happiness.

Each individual has their own definition of happiness. And I've noticed something inappropriate in those definitions. I've noticed something on the television and in every story I heard.

People fail to achieve it. Why?

Because they search it in what they do.

They search it in money, girls, and other vices.

Only to realize that they search it..... outside themselves.

They forget to find it within themselves. What happens is that they are doing their very best yet they find themselves still searching.

That's why there are jealousy and evil acts. They become blinded with the idea of getting happiness through forces. They thought they need power to be happy. Yes they are right. But they don't realize that they always had the power within themselves.

Happiness is not something that can be found elsewhere. It can only be found inside us. No matter what is happening around.

If you came to the point that you already know the  fact that only yourself can make you happy, then it is also the time you attain your true happiness. This is what I call 'gathering inside' or in other terms 'enlightenment'

Others should not be the source of your happiness. If you made it so, it would constantly disappoint you.

Even if you feel that there is a reason to react a certain way, it's just a false belief. It's just an illusion trying to manipulate you. You must know how powerful your emotions are that it can control your whole self. You don't want that to happen.

You should be unreasonably happy.

Remember that inside factors are more important than outside factors. Don't depend on people you are with. When you're in a party, always expect that you will enjoy it because you can dance there. And now you are also here at this moment, will you choose to be miserable or to be happy?

What you can do is to learn how to acquire self-happiness.

Don't mind what everyone is saying. If its not beneficial to you, then it's okay to let it go. And there's no reason to be mad.

Start gathering from inside. Throw the trash in your mind. Let go of everything you don't need in your thoughts. Be aware of your emotions. If you think that you are again depending your happiness through others then it's time to reflect. You are what you think. So always think of happiness.

At this point, you can consider that your ultimate goal in life is to be happy with yourself. And everything else will follow.

"And remember, no matter where you go, there you are. " ~Confucius
