I am not against in the title, but I'm against in how most people are focusing on the future. So let me tell you what is happening in the current situation. This is from my point of view so this may vary.
Since all mature persons may it be parents or old men want their child to be successful someday, they tend to set rules on what their child can do and should do. Up to the point that, in some case they are already limiting one's life.
They say that "You should study and should not engage in any commitments, should stay away from bad friends."
Then the child would say "I want to play or I want this girl so badly or I like this hobby."
Child: :((.
The older guy would reply "You can have a girlfriend when you have graduated or you can do that hobby when it's summer season."
Who's in agony now?
In some other case, a smart child or teenager would reply "But, I'm not a teen anymore at that time, I want to experience all this while I'm a teenager."
But maybe you'd say that someday the child would understand what you're talking about: good life, successful job, etc.
But what if that someday will not come?
You are saying something that is not even sure.
If you let him be happy now, do what he wants to do as long as he still do his responsibility, at least, you are sure that he is enjoying his life.
One's life is short, and we can only have a life once.
We are not born for the future, we are born for the present. We are born not to study only, but to live life. Life starts not on the 20's or 30's but at the time you see the earth, at the time you first breathe the oxygen.
Let your children experience the life they want, warn them but don't control them.
Because The HAPPY children of today, are the SUCCESSFUL men of tomorrow.
